Air Astana (IATA: KC, ICAO: KZR) is the national airline of Kazakhstan, established on 29 August 2001 and commencing operations on 15 May 2002. The airline operates a fleet of 63 aircraft serving 129 destinations across Central Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Asia.
Air Astana maintains two primary hubs: Almaty International Airport and Astana International Airport. These strategically located gateways enable the airline to serve both Kazakhstan's largest city and its modern capital, positioning it as a crucial connector between Europe and Asia. The airline holds approximately 69% of Kazakhstan's domestic air travel market and around 40% of the intra-regional Central Asian market.
The fleet comprises modern aircraft including Airbus narrowbodies (A320, A321, A320neo, A321neo), regional jets (Embraer E-190), and wide-body aircraft (Boeing 767, Boeing 787). This mix supports both short-haul regional routes and long-haul international services. In 2024, Air Astana and its subsidiary FlyArystan together carried approximately 9 million passengers.
