Onur Air was Turkey's largest privately-owned airline, based at Istanbul Atatürk Airport. Founded in 1992, it operated regional and international flights across Europe and the Mediterranean. The airline ceased operations in December 2021 and its operating licence was cancelled in June 2022.
Fleet
Onur Air (IATA: 8Q, ICAO: OHY) was a Turkish carrier founded in 1992 that grew to become the country's largest privately-owned airline. Based primarily at Istanbul Atatürk Airport with a secondary hub at Antalya Airport, Onur Air served leisure and business travellers across Europe and the Mediterranean region.
The airline operated a modern fleet of Airbus narrow-body and wide-body aircraft: the A320 and A321 for regional routes, and the A330 for longer international services. This mix allowed Onur Air to offer both point-to-point connections and charter operations, particularly popular with tour operators serving Turkish beach destinations.
Important notice: Onur Air ceased operations in December 2021 and declared bankruptcy in April 2022. Its operating licence was cancelled by Turkish aviation authorities effective 7 June 2022. The airline no longer operates flights or accepts bookings.
