Aircraft

PenAir operated a focused fleet composed entirely of Saab 2000 aircraft, modern twin-engine turboprops designed for regional service. The Saab 2000 is a high-performance, pressurized regional airliner well-suited to Alaska's operational environment, capable of operating from shorter airfields and in challenging weather conditions typical of the state's remote communities.
This single-type fleet simplified crew training, maintenance, and spare parts logistics-a practical advantage for a regional operator. The Saab 2000's range and payload capacity made it ideal for PenAir's mission of connecting Anchorage with outlying Alaskan settlements, balancing passenger comfort with operational efficiency on routes that larger jets could not economically serve.
