Air Moldova was the national airline of Moldova, based in Chișinău. Founded in 1993, it operated regional flights across Europe using a modern mixed fleet of Airbus and Embraer aircraft. The airline suspended operations in May 2023 and had its operating certificate revoked in February 2024.
Fleet
Air Moldova (IATA: 9U, ICAO: MLD) was Moldova's flagship carrier, established on 1 January 1993. The airline ceased all operations on 3 May 2023, with its Air Operator's Certificate revoked by the Civil Aviation Authority of Moldova on 20 February 2024.
During its operational period, Air Moldova was headquartered in Chișinău and used Chișinău International Airport as its main hub. The airline served a regional network across Europe, connecting Moldova to major destinations including Istanbul, Milan, Rome, Verona, London, Paris, Madrid, Antalya, Florence, and Heraklion.
The fleet comprised modern narrow-body aircraft: the Airbus A319, A320, and A321 for mainline operations, supplemented by the Embraer E-190 for regional routes. This mix allowed Air Moldova to operate efficiently on both short-haul European routes and longer regional services. The airline offered tiered fare classes (BASIC, OPTIMUM, COMFORT, and BUSINESS) with corresponding baggage and service benefits.
