Online check-in for CommuteAir flights opens exactly 24 hours before departure and is available through the United Airlines website or mobile app at no additional charge. Airport check-in counters typically close 30–45 minutes before departure, depending on your departure airport and whether you need to check baggage.
- Visit united.com or open the United mobile app 24 hours before your flight
- Enter your confirmation number and last name
- Select your seat (if not already assigned) and review baggage allowances
- Download your boarding pass or have it sent to your phone
- Arrive at the airport at least 90 minutes before departure for domestic flights; if checking bags, allow extra time at the counter
Practical tip: Complete online check-in as early as possible to secure your preferred seat, especially on the smaller ERJ-145 aircraft where seat selection is more limited.
Can I check in at the airport if I book through United?
Yes. Although online check-in is recommended, you can still check in at CommuteAir airport counters. However, airport check-in closes 30–45 minutes before departure, so arrive early if you plan to check baggage or require counter assistance.
Is check-in different if I'm connecting from another airline?
If your first flight is with another airline, you will check in at that airline's counter for your baggage through to your final destination. For CommuteAir flights, follow the same online or airport check-in procedure. Your United itinerary will show all legs, and baggage policies apply per airline segment.
