Aircraft

Maldivian's fleet is structured to serve both the archipelago's domestic network and international regional routes. Regional turboprops-ATR 72-600, ATR 42-600, and Dash 8 aircraft-operate frequent domestic inter-island services where their fuel efficiency and ability to use smaller airfields are essential. These aircraft are also deployed on short international routes to nearby regional destinations.
Narrowbody jets (Airbus A320 and A321) provide the backbone for regional international services, offering improved range and comfort for flights to India, Bangladesh, and Thailand. The widebody Airbus A330-200, introduced in January 2025, strengthens the airline's long-haul capacity and allows expansion into more distant Asian markets. This modern addition supports growth in both passenger and cargo operations.
