The company's full legal name was Transportes Especiais Aéreos e Malotes, reflecting its focus on specialized air transport and cargo services. Founded in 2001, TEAM operated as a regional carrier serving the Brazilian domestic market.
The airline's main operating base was Rio de Janeiro–Santos Dumont Airport (SDU), one of Brazil's busiest regional hubs. TEAM positioned itself in the competitive regional aviation sector, competing with other domestic carriers on domestic routes within Brazil.
