Online check-in opens 24 hours before your flight departure and is available via the airline's website and mobile app. Check-in closes 1 hour before international flights and 45 minutes before domestic flights. Self-service kiosks are available at select airports for passengers who prefer in-person check-in. The airport counter remains open until 1 hour before departure.

Steps for online check-in:

  1. Visit www.airiceland.is or open the mobile app 24 hours before departure
  2. Enter your booking reference and passenger name
  3. Select your seat if applicable to your fare type
  4. Review baggage information and any special requests
  5. Complete check-in and download your boarding pass

Practical tip: Complete online check-in as soon as the window opens, especially during peak travel seasons, to secure preferred seating and avoid queues at the airport.

Can I check in at the airport counter if I miss the online window?
Yes, the airport counter is open until 1 hour before departure. However, you must arrive early enough to complete check-in, baggage drop, and security screening. For domestic flights, allow at least 1.5 hours; for international flights, allow 2–3 hours.
What happens if I arrive after the airport counter closes?
If you arrive after the counter closes, you will not be permitted to board. Air Iceland recommends arriving at least 2 hours before international departures and 1.5 hours before domestic departures to allow sufficient time for all procedures.
