First Air fleet

First Air operated a mixed fleet designed to serve both remote communities and longer intercity routes. Regional turboprops (ATR 42 and ATR 72) formed the backbone of service to smaller airports with limited infrastructure, offering reliability in challenging northern conditions and short-field capability. These aircraft enabled First Air to reach isolated communities unreachable by larger jets.

Jet aircraft (Boeing 737 and Boeing 767) handled trunk routes, including transcontinental services and major hub connections. The Boeing 737 provided efficient capacity for regional jet service, while the larger Boeing 767 supported longer routes and premium cabin configurations for business travelers.

The L-382 Hercules provided dedicated cargo capacity, essential for supply chains to remote regions where reliable air freight was critical infrastructure.
